St Francis Borgia

The plan for this renovation placed independent enclosed narthexes at each wing of the existing church that included support spaces for the staff and public. This was combined with a central entrance portal on axis with the altar, which resulted in a formal, clear, processional entrance from the outside to the inside. The altar platform was lowered and enlarged, creating a more open and intimate connection with the parishioners. A series of center-pivot translucent doors provide a screen between the baptismal area and the old entrance to provide an intimate setting for baptisms or overflow seating.
