221 Raven Cliff Rd
The house at 221 Raven Cliff faced several challenges from the outset. The site can be defined by its steep slope and heavy forestation. After surveying the site and selecting a location that minimized tree disruption and potential flooding we began designing. The three main design features of the house are:
- The orientation. The house was oriented N – S to maximize views down into the valley.
- The prairie style inspiration. The client is a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and desired a low house with wide overhanging soffits.
- The double height combined kitchen, dining, and living space. This spacious center room anchors the house and opens up to the distant Southern views.
